John 3:16-17 (NLT)
"For this is how God loved the world: He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent His Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through Him."
Sin is what separates us from God. Sin, is "missing the mark," failing to meet the standards God has laid out for humanity since the beginning. We're all born with it and the only way to get right with God is to accept the gift he gave us; His Son, taking our place, atoning for our sin. It's His perfect life that took upon our sin and makes us right with Himself.
When we understand sin, how we sin personally, (we all do, no one except Jesus has ever lived a perfect life) we see how depraved we actually are and live. Every day our choices matter. When we accept Jesus' gift of salvation he washes away our sins and we are made new. Freedom from sin.
In this present body and while we live in this world, we will still be able to sin and there is still sin (our fleshly desires) that tempt us. But, we will sin LESS and LESS. Our hearts begin to undergo a transformation process; like a surgery, described as circumcision of the heart in the Holy Bible. If we allow Jesus, and His Holy Spirit to take over and get to work on our hearts, then our minds and bodies will go through a tremendous transformation. A transformation that only God can perform.
It's simple. God is always listening and actually waiting for you to facilitate a conversation with him. This is called prayer. It's through prayer that you confess to Him that you know you fall short and are in fact a sinner. You declare to Him that you want Jesus to cover you and wash your sins from the past, the present and the future by accepting that He died for you, in your place. There is no other name given that can accomplish this. By believing in your heart that Jesus is the only one who can offer this to you, you accept this gift from Gods good grace and salvation through faith in Jesus.
Once your saved you have received Gods Spirit. His spirit is who helps us throughout our day, talking gently to us through our conscience. He helps us sort through our thoughts, actions and deeds. Remember, we will not be perfect on day one. We will still make mistakes, but we will be guided every day from here on out. Pray daily, read your bible and study. Get to know God and His character through His word. It's important to know that His Holy Spirit will remind you of what God says, convict you and lead you away from your temptations. Your journey has only begun and I'm so excited for you.
This is serious business and I must clarify: We have been given the gift of salvation, we can't earn it or work for it. Working OUT salvation, (Philippians 2:12) is not working for salvation. Nothing you do, except believe in Jesus will earn your ticket to salvation. If you have accepted Jesus, good fruit (good work/desires) will flow from you, showing the results of your salvation. This means, people will see God's new creation in you, by allowing Him to work in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him. And that my friends is how we will approach our wellness journey. With God's good grace, stewarding our Heart, Mind and Body according to His will and not our own.
